Chef Thomas Lopez
Head Chef
Chef Thomas Lopez, also known as Chef Tomas, began his culinary journey in his uncle’s deli in Brooklyn while still in high school. He later served as a cook and baker in the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Force, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, aboard the USS Tunny (SSN 682). Following his military service, he pursued a formal culinary education at Johnson & Wales University, earning an Associate of Science (AOS) in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor of Science (BOS) in Food Service Management. He then honed his skills in some of Long Island’s top restaurants, including La Marmite in East Williston Park and Il Toscana in Douglaston, Queens.
Chef Lopez went on to lead kitchens on the North Fork of Long Island, where his work received accolades from The New York Times, Newsday, and Dan’s Papers. Today, he has the honor of applying his expertise at The Vineyards Golf and Country Club, where he is leading the kitchen staff in crafting exceptional dining experiences. With a passion for culinary excellence, he ensures that every dish is not only delicious but also a memorable part of the overall guest experience.
